REDMAN live in Sofia

REDMAN takes the stage at Joy Station on May 14th, and it won’t be just another gig.

This will be a hip-hop lesson taught by the man who has never been out of shape or out of the street.

Redman is the rapper who brought humor to rap without softening its sharp edges.

Brick City Funk Doc is a pioneer with a P-Funk soul, an East Coast edge, and an energy that can’t be learned – it can be experienced.

His 1992 debut with Def Jam’s ‘Whut? Thee Album’, produced by Erick Sermon (EPMD), laid the foundations for a style that would leap from lazy groove to full lyrical explosion – and back again. The album sold over half a million copies, and The Source crowned him Rap Artist of the Year in 1993.

This was followed by his legendary clash with Method Man – first as freestyle duels on Yo! MTV Raps, then like the cult How High.

‘Da Rockwilder’, ‘Whateva Man’, ‘I’ll Bee Dat’, ‘Smash Sumthin’ – tracks that never get old, but only gain weight. Redman is part of Biggie’s posthumous ‘Born Again’, enters Tupac’s studio for ‘Got My Mind Made Up’ and even breaks into the mainstream with ‘Dirrty’ together with Christina Aguilera – without losing an ounce of authenticity.

In December 2024, after the release of ‘Muddy Waters Too’, Eminem wrote that Redman is “one of my all-time favorite rappers”. Period.

Today, more than 30 years later, Redman remains what he has always been – independent, raw, ridiculously sharp and uncompromisingly real.

‘80 Barz’ passed 3 million views in no time. ‘Lalala’ (again with Method Man), ‘Back Up’ with Wu-Tang & Onyx, ‘Don’t Wanna C Me Rich’ – proof that Funk Doc has no brakes.

This is not TikTok hype.

This is fundamental hip-hop.

What to expect?

Energy. Humor. Tight lyrics with punch, over classic boom-bap and P-Funk beats attitude.

This is a showman with brains, character and stage presence that sets halls on fire.
