Sydney Calderon (artist) and Dr. Julian Raichev (art historian) present a joint, interdisciplinary event - 2 in 1, during which there will be:
- an open exhibition of Sydney and
- a cultural and discussion seminar on the topic: "Living Myths and Colors of Eternity: Symbols of Latin America in Art", hosted by Dr. Julian Raichev - an art historian who defended two doctoral studies, respectively at the National Academy of Arts, Bulgaria and at the University of Geneva, Switzerland.
The art of Latin America is a vast world in which ancient myths, sacred symbols and bright colors continue to live today. From the mystical sun disks and masks of the Mayans and Aztecs to contemporary artists who intertwine tradition and modernity - the journey through Latin American culture is an encounter with eternity itself. The seminar will take you into the magical circle of symbols that tell stories about the cosmos, nature and man - stories that are still relevant today.
The theme is inspired by the work of the Bolivian artist Sidney Calderon, whose exhibition is visiting NEXUS space and will be opened the same day.
Sidney Calderon is an artist deeply connected to the old traditions of the Bolivian people and Latin America. He embodies legends and customs from the highland regions of the Andes through the language of art. The artist is famous for his original drawing, with the specificity of the lively and energizing color.
Meetings and communication with shamans give way to mysticism in the embodied magical formulas in the artist's work. Sidney Calderon's works are imbued with positive energy and spiritual light, brought by the old beliefs of the Indian peoples. They reveal the connection with the divine world and the worship of the beauty of nature and the joy of life. In his art, the artist conveys the characteristic color of traditional Bolivian costumes and customs. Along with the color, the artist brings the energy temporal connection from ritual places in the Andes.
The exhibition will present works in the author's technique of painting on velvet with images of animals from the Indian cult. The artist also applies an original technique of painting on bison skin.
Along with Indian customs and beliefs, Sidney Calderon deifies dances through the power of art and touches us with the energy of colorful urban life in Latin America.
