Dear friends,

After a decade and a half of stages, festivals, and unforgettable musical encounters, “Tupani i Gaidi” return to Sofia for a special anniversary concert.

There is music that preserves tradition.
And there is music that gives it new life.

“Tupani i Gaidi” are part of this living alternative folklore — born somewhere between the mountains and the city, between ancient roots and contemporary sound. A traditional Bulgarian spirit that breathes, moves, and continuously finds new life on stage.

On June 18, the group will celebrate 15 years of musical journey with an exclusive anniversary evening — gathering the energy, rhythm, and magic of a formation that has become one of the recognizable names of the contemporary Bulgarian ethno/fusion scene.

The band brings together musicians from some of Bulgaria’s most recognizable ethno and world music projects. Among them are Jorge and Buny — well known for their work with Oratnitza and for their unconventional approach to percussion, rhythm, and sound. Alongside them stand Rosen, Kostadin, Lazar, and Grigor — gaida players connected to the large-scale project “101 Kaba Gaidi”, carrying the deep and spine-tingling sound of the Rhodope bagpipe.

Together they create music that moves beyond folklore in its familiar form — through drums, kaba gaidas, didgeridoo, cajon, percussion, and contemporary odd rhythms, shaping a powerful and captivating live experience.

What to expect:

– original arrangements of traditional Bulgarian motifs and iconic performances from 15 years on stage
– the heartfelt and spine-tingling sound of the kaba gaida, intertwined with the ethereal voices of Valentina Dobreva and Nikoleta Nikolova, and the magic of Bulgarian folk singing
– the powerful rhythm of tupan drums, didgeridoo, and percussion
– fiery energy, dancing crowds, and music that can be felt with the whole body
