based on the drama “Dragon Wedding” (1910) by P.Yu. Todorov

 

With great trepidation and genuine enthusiasm, we invite you to the Premiere in the city of Sliven of the Folklore Spectacle “Dragon Wedding” based on the drama of the same name by P.Yu. Todorov.

 

Experience the emotion, richness and beauty of folk beliefs and traditional rituals combined with the artistic expressiveness of the talented dancers and singers of the Representative Folklore Ensemble “Shevitsa” and the fairy tale of the tragic plot. A story about the desire for freedom and for breaking away from the norm of society at the cost of the disembodied and poetic folklore illusion. An honest, touching and shocking story in which everyone will recognize themselves.

And the story becomes even closer to us when we explain that the basis of the plot of "Zmeiova svatba" are the relationships between Peyo Yavorov and the author's sister - Mina Todorova, prototypes of the main characters Zmeia and Cena. There is no Bulgarian untouched by their tragic fate...

 

The performance is dedicated to the 111th anniversary of the poet's death.
