SGLEDNITSI – SPRING FESTIVAL

The "Sglednitsi" festival is a cultural event aimed at promoting traditional music and culture and their integration towards a sustainable lifestyle and life outside the city, which includes practical lectures and workshops on agriculture, construction, health and education and various workshops on music, singing, arts and practical activities.

 

"Sglednitsi" is the old name of the village of Ognyanovo, Elin Pelin region, where the festival is held. The custom of "Sgleda" is traditional for the contemporary lifestyle and culture and is a great reference to the main idea of ​​the festival - to introduce people with common interests and offer them the opportunity to go to the "sgleda" with life outside the city and the opportunities and challenges it offers, so that the decision remains with them whether to have a "Wedding" after the "Sgleda", and here metaphorically the place of the future bride and her family is taken by "village life".

 

The new edition of the festival will also have a strong musical dimension, with the main emphasis being musical performances with ethno motifs, ethno jazz and fusion, as well as traditional Bulgarian folklore music.

 

Another main emphasis will be working with children through music and art, and for this purpose specialists in the field of music pedagogy and alternative forms of education through art have been invited.

 

Musical program:

 

Performances by folklore performers, young performers and established musicians will be included, who will present contemporary interpretations of traditional Bulgarian music. The focus is on ethno and fusion genres that connect tradition with modern sound.

 

Particular attention will be paid to singing and music workshops, as well as folk dances that will involve the audience in creating music - something that was traditional in the life of Bulgarians in ancient times.

 

Some of the performers we expect are: Ethno Formation "Nebo", as well as VA "Lucks" led by Elena Bozhkova from "The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices"

 

History of the festival:

 

The first edition of the Spring Festival "Sglednici" was successfully held on April 20-21, 2024.
