🌞⏳🌝 On the day of the Spring Equinox - March 20, we will talk about the phases of the Sun and astronomy in antiquity.

 

🔭 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexey Stoev from the Institute for Space Research and Technology (ISRT) of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences will tell us in a popular and understandable language about an interesting science - archaeoastronomy.

 

👉 what was the knowledge of astronomy in ancient illiterate cultures.

 

👉 about the role of the sky and celestial objects, as well as stone as natural phenomena, ensuring the creation of monuments, turned into the first astronomical "tools" in the observational practice of man.

 

👉 about the more significant archaeoastronomical monuments in Bulgarian lands and their connection with celestial bodies.

Prof. Stoev from the Institute for Space Research and Technology (IKI) of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and director of the Yuri Gagarin Public Space Center in St. Zagora is a Bulgarian astronomer and physicist, archaeoastronomer, speleologist, Doctor of Physical Sciences. He has participated in international seminars, congresses, symposiums and research expeditions in the field of astronomy, archaeoastronomy and speleology in over 40 countries, and he is also the organizer of many of them. He is a member of a number of national and international scientific organizations, an experienced caver and researcher.
