40 years of Seven Churches: POSSESSED with a concert in Sofia

 

American death metal pioneers Possessed arrive in Sofia for a special concert on June 9, 2026 at the Joy Station club, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of their cult debut album ‘Seven Churches’ — a release that many consider to be the symbolic beginning of death metal.

 

After their extremely successful first visit to our country in 2023, Possessed return to celebrate one of the most significant anniversaries in the history of extreme music – 40 years of an album that laid the foundations of an entire genre and inspired generations of bands.

 

Formed in 1982 in the San Francisco area, Possessed are among the main architects of death metal. With their aggressive style, fast riffs and Jeff Becerra’s characteristic growl vocals, the band shaped a sound that would forever change the face of heavy music.

 

After long periods of hiatus and reformations, the band returned with the powerful album ‘Revelations of Oblivion’ and today continues to sound just as brutal, uncompromising and authentic.

 

The concert on June 9 promises a clash between past and present – ​​an evening that will mark one of the most important moments in the history of death metal, with performances of iconic songs and relentless stage energy.
