Detroit's finest Illa J and Frank N Dank are coming to Sofia on May 28th.

A night deeply rooted in the soul of Detroit hip-hop: Illa J and Frank n Dank are pulling up to Malkata Tekila Sofia — two acts that each hold down the legacy of one of the most influential scenes to ever do it.

 

Illa J is a versatile artist who moves effortlessly between rap, vocals and live instrumentation. Coming up in a musical family in Detroit and holding it down as J Dilla's younger brother, he carries a rich legacy — but over the years he's made it crystal clear he's built his own lane. His sound moves through soul, jazz, funk and hip-hop, and he's known for his warm voice and personal touch. With projects like Home and No Traffic and collabs with Talib Kweli and Robert Glasper, he's built a serious live reputation on a global level.

 

Frank n Dank — the duo of Frank Nitt and Dankery Harv — are certified fixtures in the underground and forever tied to the legacy of J Dilla. They broke through with Welcome 2 Detroit, and from there grew into crowd favorites with their energetic, no-cap style. Their legendary (and once shelved) album 48 Hours, produced entirely by Dilla, leveled up into a cult classic. To this day they're known for their chemistry on stage and their ability to get any room locked in.
