In rock, there are voices you don't forget. There are visions you don't expect.

And then there's... Graham Bonnet - the only rock vocalist who looks like a Miami Vice character, but sings like he's leading an army of hurricanes.

 

Born in England in 1947, self-taught and unbridled, Graham Bonnet is the man Ritchie Blackmore personally chose to replace the great (and practically irreplaceable) Dio as the vocalist of Rainbow. Although he initially disliked neither his short hair nor his "non-rocker" style.

 

Well, the style remains, the hair too – but then comes the album “Down to Earth” and the superhit “Since You Been Gone” and blows everything up. The song becomes one of Rainbow’s biggest hits – a timeless refrain about lost love, sung with a fist in the air and a tear in your ear.

 

They write about him that he is...

 

- a unique rock vocalist

 

- that he has the look of an accountant, but a voice like an erupting volcano

 

- and perhaps the funniest thing – that he is “like the vocal equivalent of a Ferrari in a bank teller’s suit – it doesn’t look like what you’re going to hear at all, but when he opens his mouth, the walls come tumbling down”

 

The curious thing is that Bonet’s style as a singer up until then had not been hard rock at all, but apparently Richie’s ear unerringly recognized the vocal quality and this was a turning point in Graham’s entire career. Yes, he stayed with the capricious guitar genius for only one year and one album, but even after that his path is something like a rock and roll textbook:

And now? Now Bonnet, who has seen 2 and 200 in the rock field, is coming to Sofia for the first time with his Graham Bonnet Band – new energy, old school, sound for eternity.

 

The band has fresh blood and an international vibe:

 

· Beth-Ami Heavenstone – a bassist with a rock name and an even longer history (part of Alcatrazz)

 

· Conrado Pesinato – a Brazilian guitarist who can make a Marshall amplifier cry

 

· Francis Cassol – a Brazilian drummer whose rhythms echo the jungle of metal

 

· Jani Hölli – a Finnish keyboard wizard bringing northern hypnosis

 

The set includes Rainbow classics, Schenker outbursts, a return to Alcatrazz, and all this – in one concert, one name, one night. Not to be missed!
