ELDER live in Sofia

American psychedelic prog band ELDER to perform in Sofia on June 30

 

One of the leading bands in contemporary heavy psychedelic rock – ELDER – returns to Sofia for a concert on June 30, 2026 at the capital’s Mixtape 5 club. This is the band’s second visit to Bulgaria, after their ecstatic live performance here in 2019.

 

Elder was formed in 2006 in a small coastal town in Massachusetts by three friends, united by their love for the heavy sound of low-tuned guitars. Over the years, the band has expanded, changed its lineup, moved from the USA to Germany and performed hundreds of concerts around the world – from small clubs to large stages, including as a support act for the titans TOOL.

 

Elder have released 6 studio albums and 4 EPs. Two decades after their formation, they remain a rare sight in the underground scene – a band that can absorb and transform influences from different genres without losing their identity. Their new album “Through Zero”, due out on April 2nd, is a clear confirmation of the band’s desire to push the boundaries of heavy rock and solidifies their position among the leaders of the contemporary scene. On it, fans will find everything that made Elder a cult name: massive riffs; progressive structures; hypnotic grooves and ethereal, atmospheric passages. Recorded in Berlin in 2025 between tours, “Through Zero” is the first album that the band produced independently and mixed with the help of long-time collaborator Richard Behrens. The result is perhaps the most focused and impactful record in their discography to date. The album’s themes explore life and death, fear and hope, powerlessness and meaning – all as part of the same “signal path”.
