DJ Slowz is a DJ, producer, and b-boy from Vietnam. His journey began as a dancer, deeply immersed in Hanoi’s underground hip-hop culture. He has won titles at *Battle of the Year Southeast Asia* and *R16 Southeast Asia*. His passion for dance naturally evolved into an interest in music and the role of the DJ.
For over 15 years, Slowz has done more than just collect records; he has been preserving Vietnam’s musical heritage from both the pre- and post-war eras. His collection includes tracks that few people worldwide even know exist. Beyond collecting, he actively seeks out original master tapes for songs that have no known surviving vinyl copies. In recent years, he has established himself on Instagram as a compelling storyteller regarding forgotten singles and musicians, amassing over a quarter of a million followers. His live sets regularly feature rare releases from the 60s, 70s, and 80s—spanning Southeast Asia, Cuba, and Colombia—as well as hidden gems from Denmark, where he has lived for several years.
Over the past decade, he has performed at jams, battles, and hip-hop events in nearly ten countries. An active figure in the hip-hop community, Slowz is also part of the organizing team behind Hanoi Concrete Jam. He has performed as a supporting act for the likes of the Sugar Hill Gang, AddisAbabaBand, Bacao Rhythm and Steel Band, and Saigon Soul Revival. His mixes—including the cult classic *In Dust We Trust Vol. 1* by his crew, Rare Jointz Vietnam—have circulated globally online, earning acclaim from funk and disco enthusiasts across the map.
As a producer, Slowz is affiliated with the Vietnamese label Saigon Supersound. He has created official remixes for legendary local bands and produced beats for the country's elite boom-bap artists; he also produced an official remix for Jazzanova’s *In Between (Remixes)* release on the Sonar Kollektiv label.
