Paul Kay Masterclass

"Paul Kay from the Royal Ballet School, London, is coming to Sofia again - this OCTOBER he will give exceptional master classes in classical ballet.

 

 Two days of intensive classes with the unique ballet technique of the Royal Ballet School await you. Classes are open to dancers between the ages of 10 and 13 and over 14.

About Paul Kay:

 

 Artistic Manager for Intensives and Auditions at The Royal Ballet School, International Visiting Teacher.

 

Born in Oxford, Paul Kay studied with Gaynor Walters in Devon and later at The Royal Ballet School, where he performed "Flower Festival at Genzano pas de deux" for his graduation in 2003. During his studies he won accolades from Adeline Genée Award and Roseta Mauri Dance Competition.

 

He joined The Royal Ballet Company immediately after graduating, and in 2008 was selected as a soloist. Danced as premier and soloist in ballet performances for the next 19 years. His roles include: Hans Peter ("The Nutcracker"), The Golden Idol, Collia, The Jester ("Cinderella"), Blue Boy ("Les Patineurs"), "The Fisherman and His Bride" and "Chroma". He performed original roles in Wayne McGregor's Infra, Woolf Works and Dante Project, Christopher Weldon's Alice in Wonderland, The Winter's Tale and DGV. Also creates new material for Crystal Pite, Hofesh Schetcher, Sibi Larbi Cherkaoui and Kathy Martson. Paul Kay has been nominated for "Rising Artist" (Classical) and "Critics' Award for Dance".

 

After a successful career as a dancer, Mr. Kay gained a professional teaching qualification from The Royal Ballet School (PDTC) and was involved as a guest teacher in professional programs around the world. He is currently Artistic Manager for Intensive Classes and Auditions at The Royal Ballet School and frequently teaches at the school.

 

In 2024, Mr. Kay participated in Dance Grand Prix Sofia as a guest teacher and jury."
