Monsters on Screen

🩸 MONSTERS ON SCREEN

What if a monster isn't born a monster?

On the eve of Halloween, we will look beyond the masks, claws, blood, and terrifying faces to seek the humanity hidden behind the monstrous.

What turns a person into a predator?

When does pain transform into cruelty?

Where does the urge to destroy, dominate, and exact revenge come from?

And why are the most terrifying creatures sometimes the ones in whom we recognize ourselves?

On October 30th, we will encounter some of the most memorable monsters and villains from cinema and literature—not merely to fear them, but to try and understand them.

We will look past the horror to explore the fears, desires, traumas, and human frailties lying behind these monstrous figures.

Because sometimes, the most interesting question isn't:

"What is this monster?"

but rather:

"What happened to the person to turn them into one?"

An evening dedicated to cinema, literature, psychology, fears, and that dark place within us we prefer not to look at too closely.

This Halloween, we aren't just watching the monsters.

This Halloween, we are trying to understand why they are the way they are.
