CALYCES Live in Sofia/Threechords

Calyces are a polyrhythmic Greek interpretation of progressive metal with psychedelic and sludge influences. We could even say that they cast a post-hardcore shadow that playfully plays with the thick waves of sound of Mastodon, Gojira and Meshuggah, managing, however, to achieve a solid balance between sludge and post-hardcore.

 

Mantos Stergiou, known to us from Tardive Dyskinesia, Stavros Rigos (ex Poem, Tardive Dyskinesia), Christos Kazantzoglou and Lucas Yanakitsas formed Calyces in Athens, Greece, with the sole purpose of taking the amazing, polyrhythmic and fluctuating time signatures on a journey that unfolds in an improvised manner, but its creativity remains balanced and focused.
