The Sofia Symphony Orchestra proudly presents Disney's Aladdin - Live Concert with Film Screening, featuring the legendary Oscar, Golden Globe and Grammy Award-winning soundtrack, performed live. Under the baton of the esteemed maestro Svilen Simeonov, this spectacular event will take place on September 13, 2025, in the prestigious Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture (NPC) in Sofia.

 

This special performance will transport audiences to the enchanting world of Agrabah, presenting the beloved original film on a giant screen, while Alan Menken’s iconic score, with lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, will come to life thanks to the performance of a full symphony orchestra.

Adding a unique touch to this cinematic concert experience, the unforgettable voices behind the Bulgarian dubbing of Disney’s “Aladdin” will appear on stage. The audience will be captivated by the talents of KERANA, MOMCHIL STEPANOV and THEODOR KOYCHINOV, who will perform selected musical numbers from the film, adding additional magic to this timeless classic.

About Disney’s Aladdin

 

Set in the mystical city of Agrabah, Aladdin tells the story of a resourceful street urchin who dreams of a better life. Princess Jasmine, the independent and courageous daughter of the Sultan, longs to escape the constraints of palace life. A chance encounter brings them together, uncovering the sinister plot of the sorcerer Jafar. Together, they embark on a magical, magical carpet adventure to thwart his evil plans. With the help of his trusty monkey Abu and the playful Genie (originally voiced by the legendary Robin Williams), Aladdin learns that true power lies in believing in yourself.

 

Released in 1992, Aladdin won Academy Awards for Best Original Song (“A Whole New World”) and Best Original Score. Alan Menken and Howard Ashman created six unforgettable songs, including “Arabian Nights,” “Friend Like Me,” and “Prince Ali.” After Ashman’s untimely death in 1991, Tim Rice completed the soundtrack with songs like “One Jump Ahead” and the iconic “A Whole New World.”

Momchil Stepanov – The Voice of Iconic Disney Characters

 

Momchil Stepanov is a prominent Bulgarian actor and singer, widely recognized as the voice behind some of Disney’s most beloved characters for over 15 years. His impressive vocal portfolio includes Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast, Sebastian in The Little Mermaid, Maui in Moana, as well as Kristoff and Sven in Frozen and Frozen 2. He is received two nominations for the prestigious "Icarus" award in the "dubbing" category and is one of the most recognizable voices in Bulgarian animation and cinema.

 

Teodor Koichinov - Charismatic and emotionally captivating performer

 

Teodor Koichinov graduated from the National Academy of Music "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" with a degree in "Pop and Jazz Singing". His musical path began at the age of four with singing lessons. His first significant stage appearance was in the first season of the reality show "Music Idol", where he took second place.

 

In 2012, he was the lead vocalist of the Bulgarian rock band "Impuls". The same year, he founded his own band "Theophoria", which disbanded in 2014. Teodor participated as a vocalist in the first major Bulgarian tribute to Dream Theater and collaborated with the Ruse and Stara Zagora Philharmonic Orchestras for the nationwide performance of “Show Must Go On” – a tribute to the music of Queen, skillfully orchestrated for orchestra, rock band and choir. Teodor possesses an exceptional stage presence, radiating charisma and charm. He boasts perfect improvisational skills and a remarkable ability to awaken emotions in his audience.

 

As an accomplished artist, Teodor has incredible control over his voice. In addition to hosting his own daily show on Radio Fresh!, “Theo’s Show”, Teodor Koychinov has also successfully entered the world of dubbing, voicing various singing and dialogue roles for major film studios such as Disney and Universal. Notable roles he has been chosen to dub in Bulgarian include the iconic Mickey Mouse, the vocal parts of Olaf in Frozen and Frozen 2, Stitch in Lilo & Stitch 2025, and Prince Fierro in the acclaimed production Wicked. Fans can expect to hear his reprise of the role of Prince Fierro in Wicked 2 in late 2025. In October 2024, he will perform in Disney’s Magical Music from the Movies concert, performing beloved songs from classics such as Cinderella, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, as well as contemporary hits from Frozen, Encanto, Moana, and Wish.
